Montgomery Transport Group is committed to ensuring your goods move smoothly and without delay. New regulations, known as Import Control System 2 (ICS2), are changing the requirements for all goods entering the EU, including Northern Ireland, from September 2025. These new rules require a Safety and Security Declaration (ENS) to be submitted before goods arrive at the port of departure from GB.
Key Changes & what Montgomery Transport Group need from clients and partners
To prevent delays and penalties, we need your help to ensure all information is accurate and submitted on time.
1. More Detailed Information is Required:
– EORI Numbers: We now require EORI numbers for all parties involved in the shipment, including the Consignor
and Consignee7.
– Precise Goods Description: Vague terms like “fruit” or “jewellery” will cause delays. A precise description,
such as “Women’s Gold Jewellery” or “Apples,” is now mandatory.
– HS Codes: A minimum of a 6-digit Harmonized System (HS) commodity code is now required for more accurate product classification.
Packaging and Transport Details: We need the number, type, and weight of all packages. We also need detailed information about the transport route, carrier, and vehicle.
2. A New Process for GB to NI Shipments:
– For movements to Northern Ireland, a new system called ICS2 will replace ICS NI.
– We have developed an API to deal with large amount of data – we need your data to be able to test in partnership
with you our valued customers
– For “not at risk” goods, once authorized, an IMMI can replace supplementary declarations
– We will require MRNs in your GMR to mark the IMMI as ‘Arrived’, which avoids further action post-arrival
