In March, Montgomery Transport Group were invited to attend the Local Primary Schools Transport and Logistics Masterclass at Mossley Mill, Northern Ireland, for the second year running. This involved our team speaking to the school children about logistics, provoking interest in the fantastic career opportunities in transport for them in the future. Our team also spoke about the roles within the industry, why we do what we do, the best parts, the most challenging, and the skills/qualifications required.
The children were engaged and took great interest in the excitement of the Transport and Logistics sector. The students also undertook a number of exercises and competitions throughout the days of the event, and had the chance to win a number of prizes, such as Easter Eggs!
We brought two of Montgomery Transports’ Trucks to the event; a Rigid and Unit. The children took great pride in having a look around them, and were thrilled to be able to see the trucks close-up in real life!
Ian Baxter, our Driver Trainer, had the opportunity to play the Driving Simulator that Transport Training Services NI brought along! It was a fantastic and fun-filled experience for the team! Some of the children also had fun being given the chance to sit behind the wheel in the Montgomery truck! This gave them some realism of the potential future within Transport, and put a smile on lots of their faces.
Thank you to all the team that got involved, and everyone who attended the event. Montgomery Transport Group were thrilled and filled with pride to promote the Transport and Logistics industry in such an insightful and inspiring manner to our children of the future. We are grateful for another year of opportunity to speak to our children about their future. We also extend our thanks to the team who organised the event – it was very knowledgeable for the children, and provided the information in such an engaging way for them.
