40 days to go! – Changes to the Windsor Framework!
Did you know on Monday 30th September 2024, The UK Internal Market Scheme will be in full force.
What is the UK Internal Market Scheme you may ask? It’s a new and improved scheme to help traders move goods over the Irish Sea from Great Britain to Northern Ireland.
There will be 2 lanes.
Green Lane = Goods from GB that will remain in Northern Ireland
Red Lane = Goods from GB moving to Republic of Ireland and/or the rest of EU
- It replaces the current UK Trader Scheme
- No more supplementary declarations
- You need to make sure you are registered for UKIMS as only importers who have this authorisation will be allowed to use the Green Lane
- You must have an XI EORI
- Goods from GB entering via the Green Lane must only be for use in Northern Ireland and may need additional labelling requirements such as ‘NOT FOR EU’
- Green Lane SPS goods can enter under a General Certificate that has been issued by UK authorities
- Goods that are ‘at risk’ of entering ROI and the rest of the EU must move through the Red Lane. These goods will be subject to the existing checks.
- Business to Business parcels being sent from GB to Northern Ireland will also need to register for UKIMS as businesses not meeting the criteria will result in having to use the Red Lane, which will result in full customs checks
